What is the French pied du roi?
32.48 × 32.48 cm = 1 PCR ≈ 0.105 m²
The pied du roi is an old French unit of length measuring 32.48 centimetres. Because a plot is an area, the Astrée project uses the square pied du roi and abbreviates it, for its own reference system, as PCR: a square measuring 32.48 centimetres on each side.
PCR is therefore an abbreviation specific to the Astrée project, not a historical acronym. One PCR represents approximately 0.105 m². It is used solely as a reference for identifying plots.

These plots are localised references: they are neither a sale of land nor a private area.
What membership opens
A real place. A story to follow. A community to join.
- A referenced plot. Every Dame or Chevalier is connected for life to one or more identified plots. This connection remains valid even if no personal Fellowship space is created.
- The Fellowship. Creating a personal space is optional. The personal code opens the members’ area, with writings, games, recipes, estate news and information about gatherings.
- The Astrée coat of arms. Membership grants a personal, lifelong right to use the coat of arms of Les Chevaliers de l’Astrée, in accordance with the organisation’s charter.
Near or far
Time is on your side.
Some people may one day discover an estate in person or attend a gathering organised by the association. Others will follow the seasons from home before perhaps arranging a future journey to the Berry, near La Roche-Posay or to Aragon.
There is nothing to achieve and no deadline to meet. Membership is valid for life; everyone maintains this connection in their own way.

Modest actions, but very real ones.
Memberships give the non-profit organisation the means to act gradually, according to its resources and the needs of each place.
- Care for the estates: plant, maintain, restore and support areas that benefit the living world.
- Connect and pass on: document the seasons, tell the stories of the places and enable members to follow them.
- Welcome new estates: prepare new biodiversity havens when this becomes possible.
- Ensure continuity: give the project the tools and organisation it needs to act over the long term.
How it works
Membership is yours for life. The Fellowship remains a choice.
- Choose. You choose the membership and estate that match the connection you wish to create.
- Receive. The plot or plots are connected with the membership for life, whether or not digital access is activated.
- Create your personal Fellowship space — optional. If you wish, the personal code lets you create your space and discover writings, games, recipes and news from the estates.
Before choosing
A lasting connection, with no confusion about its nature.
- Membership does not confer any ownership right, exclusive use or right to build on the land.
- Gatherings and visits are organised according to the possibilities and conditions specific to each estate. The connection can also be experienced entirely from afar.
- Creating a personal Fellowship space is optional. The personal code provides access to members-only content.
- Whether or not a Fellowship space is created, the QR code allows the detailed location of the plot or plots associated with the membership to be viewed after acceptance of the charter.
