Three estates. Three ways to enter the landscape.
Today, the estates of Les Chevaliers de l’Astrée cover nearly 5.3 hectares across France and Spain.
Some landscapes are shaped by water. Others by orchards. Still others by stone, olive trees and Mediterranean light. Les Eaux de Velours, Les Mille Légendes and Les Terres d’Aragon are three very real places that we are learning to understand and support throughout the seasons.
Places we come to know
Each estate has its own rhythm, landscapes and vulnerabilities.
An estate changes with the seasons, rainfall, blossoms, passing wildlife and the actions carried out there. It cannot be discovered in a single visit: it reveals itself gradually.
Following an estate means learning to see what is already there, supporting what can grow and preserving the memory of its transformations.

Les Eaux de Velours
The estate that brings together the Chevaliers and Dames of Astrée.
Just a few minutes from La Roche-Posay, this place combines water, woodland, meadows and areas that have been allowed to grow more freely. It is the main gathering place for Les Chevaliers de l’Astrée and a developing haven for biodiversity.
The seasons continually transform its paths, vegetation and wildlife movements. It is a place to follow as much as to discover.
- Estate area: approximately 1.7 hectares — 17,000 m²
- What you will find there: meadows, wetland, pond, woodland and paths.
- Associated plot: 1 royal square foot (PCR) — approximately 0.105 m²

Les Mille Légendes
An orchard where biodiversity, local memory and the passing on of knowledge come together.
Old fruit varieties, local stories and traditional knowledge all have a place here. The estate evolves through blossoms, fruit and harvests in a region rich in legends and rural heritage.
The orchard reminds us that a fruit tree is at once a living being, a cultivated memory and a promise passed from one generation to the next.
- Estate area: approximately 7,000 m²
- What you will find there: nearly 80 apple trees, along with hazel trees, walnut trees, hedgerows and a stream.
- Associated plots: 10 PCR — approximately 1.05 m² — at Les Mille Légendes, plus 1 PCR at Les Eaux de Velours.
Spain · Aragon
Les Terres d’Aragon
A Mediterranean estate among almond trees, olive groves and stone landscapes.
Located in the heart of Spanish Aragon, the estate reveals another facet of the project: a drier climate, rugged terrain, stone villages and local traditions deeply connected to the landscape.
Almond trees, olive groves and Mediterranean vegetation invite us to observe different rhythms and other ways in which living things adapt.
- Estate area: approximately 29,000 m² — 2.9 hectares
- What you will find there: approximately 60 olive trees and 60 almond trees, a caseta and Mediterranean vegetation.
- Associated plots: 10 PCR — approximately 1.05 m² — at Les Terres d’Aragon, plus 1 PCR at Les Eaux de Velours.
Places that bring people together
The estates are also gathering places.
The gatherings organised by Les Chevaliers de l’Astrée offer an opportunity to walk through the estates, observe how they are changing and share time with other Chevaliers. Everyone is free to take part: attendance is never expected or required.

A personal landmark within a living whole
The plot creates a connection. It does not divide the estate.
Each Dame or Chevalier of Astrée is connected to a mapped plot within one or more estates. This reference creates a lasting connection with a specific place and makes it possible to follow how it evolves.
It grants no ownership rights, exclusive use or decision-making authority over the land. The estate remains a living whole, cared for in support of the non-profit organisation’s aims and biodiversity.
A personal landmark within a story that remains collective.
And tomorrow
Today, three estates make up Astrée. Tomorrow, perhaps a fourth.
The network of estates may expand as new encounters and opportunities arise. Every new place must be real, capable of being followed over time and able to offer the living world more space, continuity and care.
